Machinist – JOURNEYMAN - November 2009
To set up and operate conventional, special purpose and numeric control (NC) machines and machining centres to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts. We are looking for 5+ years experience in a heavy metal fabrication “jobbing” shop with a proven record in the machining industry possessing excellent math skills.
a) studies blue prints, sketches, drawing, specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances
b) measures marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as guides for subsequent machining
c) verifies conformance and non-conformance on machined pieces
d) liaisons with Quality Control, engineering, production personnel, programmers to resolve any machining problems
The ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and drawings is essential. The ability to communicate effectively in English is essential.
* Copies of Journeyman certificates from BCIT or other recognized trades school is required. Proof of levels will be required.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
